Frequently asked questions
Clarity Before Commitment.
A potential licensing opportunity deserves careful questions. Here are straightforward answers about our role, the process, and what remains for your company and a buyer to decide.
What is operational data licensing?
A company may grant a buyer defined rights to use certain business records under a contract, potentially for AI training or evaluation. Licensing does not necessarily transfer ownership.
Why would an AI company want historical business records?
Real-world examples of professional workflows, decisions, processes, and outcomes can help developers build and evaluate specialized AI systems. Demand depends on the records and the buyer’s requirements.
What kinds of records might be useful?
Examples include construction project histories and estimates; engineering design reviews and troubleshooting records; IT service tickets and incident-resolution histories; and accounting process manuals, workpaper templates, and quality-review procedures. Rights, quality, format, and relevance all matter.
Do we have to share our documents with Firm Record Partners?
No. We do not collect, receive, or store operational datasets or system credentials. The evaluation asks only about your company and the categories of records it maintains.
Will our competitors see our information?
Disclosure, permitted uses, confidentiality, and protections are negotiated between your company and the buyer. Review those terms with counsel; protections should not be assumed before they are contractually established.
Can we license records that contain customer information?
Only where your company has the necessary rights and satisfies legal, contractual, confidentiality, and privacy requirements. Some records may not be suitable, even if your company created them.
Do we lose ownership of our data?
Terms depend on the agreement. A license may grant specific usage rights without transferring ownership. Review the proposed rights, exclusivity, and restrictions with counsel before signing.
How much could our records be worth?
There is no standard value. Potential value depends on the nature, quality, volume, rights, and usefulness of the records, along with buyer requirements. An initial evaluation is not a valuation, and compensation is not guaranteed.
What does Firm Record Partners charge?
Nothing to participating companies. We may receive a referral fee from a buyer if a qualifying transaction completes, under applicable partner agreements. There are no upfront fees to your company.
Are you a data buyer or broker?
No. We are an independent referral and introduction business. We do not purchase, receive, license, or resell operational datasets.
Are you affiliated with any AI company?
We are independent. We work through buyer referral programs or direct introduction arrangements. We do not represent a buyer unless expressly disclosed. Any relevant buyer relationship is explained before you decide whether to authorize an introduction.
What happens after I submit the evaluation?
We review your inquiry and contact you if more information is needed or a potential fit is identified. Submitting the evaluation does not authorize a buyer introduction.
Can we decline after learning more?
Yes. There is no obligation to accept an introduction or sign an agreement. You decide whether to proceed at every stage.
A conversation, not a commitment
Start with what you already have.
